MANNY, MOE & JACK ALIVE AND WELL AT PEP BOYS!
PHILADELPHIA, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite erroneous and inaccurate reports touting the demise of Manny, Moe & Jack, known collectively as the Pep Boys, the Philadelphia-based retailer rejected those reports as false and disrespectful. The inaccurate report began when an article appeared in the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, May 25, 1993, announcing Pep Boys' decision to hire a new advertising agency, the company said. Unfortunately, this misinformation was subsequently reported by other news agencies. According to company President and Chief Executive Officer Mitchell Leibovitz: "Manny, Moe & Jack were the founders of our company and are revered throughout our organization. `The Boys' enjoy an inordinately high level of recognition and affection throughout the United States and will always play a key role at Pep Boys." Manny, Moe & Jack statues can be found in every Pep Boys supercenter, on logo-bearing merchandise, as live action characters at Pep Boys grand openings and various events across the country as well as in internal company communications. The sense of family and strong commitment to customer satisfaction established by Manny, Moe & Jack are not only remembered at Pep Boys today, but embraced by the entire Pep Boys organization. The Pep Boys -- Manny, Moe & Jack -- are certainly alive and well! /delval/ -0- 5/28/93 /CONTACT: Michael J. Holden, senior vp-finance and treasurer of Pep Boys, 215-227-9202/ (PBY)
