MANDY SECRET EMAILS.
PM Gordon Brown faced fresh embarrassment last night after the leak of emails between Lord Mandelson and the peer's disgraced ex-spin doctor Derek Draper.
In emails written in January, 2008 - nine months before he returned to Government - Lord Mandelson said the PM could not do the "X-Factor politics" of his predecessor Tony Blair, criticised Mr Brown as "complex" and warned that voters thought the PM was "angry". But last night Lord Mandelson (right) furiously denied suggestions that he had said in the emails that Labour would lose the next General Election.
His spokesman said: "This email response was sent over a year ago in response to the suggestion that Gordon Brown needed to change his image.
"What Peter was saying was that Gordon should just be himself, that artificiality does not work in politics, and that what he is and what he stands for and the policies he is pursuing should be allowed to speak for themselves. He maintains this view."
LAST night Lord Mandelson and Schools Secretary Ed Balls both denied reports of a rift between them. Mr Balls dismissed the claim as rubbish, and said it was was "malicious fabrication" and "lies" aimed at undermining the Labour Party.
