MAN FACING U.S. SEX RAP WAS CAUGHT BY COP VIDEO.
AN IRISHMAN visiting the United States has been accused of being a sex pervert.
Michael Joseph Brown had only been in Massachusetts three days when he was arrested for going on an alleged bizarre sex rampage.
He is currently being held by authorities in Boston, Massachusetts, and is due to appear in court on Monday, October 20.
The 34-year-old allegedly exposed himself and accosted two women at Boston's Symphony T underground station.
Transport police claim that they caught Brown's alleged dirty deeds on videotape.
He is being held on EUR7,200 (USEUR10,000) bail and has been committed for a psychiatric evaluation at Bridgewater State Hospital on charges of open and gross lewdness and possession of cocaine.
Brown, of Rushdale Drive, Limerick, faces a maximum of four years behind bars if convicted of all the charges.
MBTA Transit cops say shortly before 7 pm on Monday, September 29, Brown pulled up a chair near the electronic fare machines at the station, exposed himself and began masturbating in plain view of the public.
One alleged victim told officers that Brown walked up behind her and said: "Do you want this?"
The woman then claims Brown said: "Come here, look at this."
She headed for the exit and made an emergency 911 call.
A second alleged victim later contacted police and said that while at the fare machine, she felt the suspect rub himself against her lower back and heard him say: "Do you like this?"
She said that he then said: "How do you like this?"
The police report states that Brown refused to stop fondling himself, when police arrived.
Officers said they had to pepper spray the suspect twice to make him stop.
Security camera footage is also reported to show a man exposing himself and walking up to two women.
Jake Wark, spokesman for Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F Conley, said Brown arrived in the United States on Friday, September 26, which was only three days before his arrest.
Wark said that Brown faced a maximum sentence of three years in a state prison on the sex charge and a further year for possession of cocaine. Authorities have contacted the Irish consulate.
A spokeswoman for the Irish consulate in Boston declined to discuss the case and Brown's Boston lawyer, Joseph Lattimore, has not yet returned our calls.
He gave no address in Boston and it is not known why he was visiting the city.
In April, police launched an ad campaign in conjunction with the Boston Area Rape Crisis Centre to encourage women to report subways talking predators.
They deployed a "grope patrol" of undercover decoys who pose as bait for pathological perverts.
