MAN BLASTS ALZHEIMER'S WIFE IN MURDER-SUICIDE.
A STRESSED-out husband is thought to have blasted his wife with a shotgun then killed himself after their idyllic retirement in the countryside turned sour.
John Knott, 71, worried about wife Anne's Alzheimer's disease and feared plans for a travellers' camp near their isolated PS360,000 thatched cottage, it was revealed yesterday.
The retired construction company boss had written to planners voicing concern about the environmental impact of the site.
A neighbour said the bridge-playing couple had an active social life until Mrs Knott, 70, revealed she had dementia.
The friend said: "At one point Anne could only go out in a wheelchair because of her asthma and they did become quite isolated."
The couple, who had been married for 37 years, moved to the cottage in Bosbury, Herefordshire, from Droitwich, Worcs, eight years ago. Mrs Knott had a daughter Jane, 48, from a previous relationship.
Police believe the deaths were a murdersuicide and are not seeking anyone else.
