Byline: SARAH SLATER

A MAN and woman have been killed in two separate road crashes.

Driver Eamon Hoade, 40, died when his car hit trees and a wall just outside the village of Belclare, Tuam, Co Galway, on Friday night.

Emergency services were contacted by other motorists and were quickly on the scene after the 11.30pm smash.

A 46-year-old front-seat passenger was seriously injured and taken to University College Hospital Galway for treatment. Earlier on Friday night a 35-year-old single woman died when her car was in collision with an articulated truck at Shambough, New Ross, Co Wexford, shortly before 6.30pm.

Grainne Keevans of Pinewood Estate, Wexford town was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead soon after arrival.

Her niece Catriona Marina last night paid tribute online.

She said: "Words cannot describe the heartbreak we are all feeling. You were taken too soon Grainne but you will always be in our hearts."
