MALONEY NAMED PRESIDENT OF K-III'S INTERTEC PUBLISHING

 NEW YORK, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Harry A. McQuillen, group vice president of K-III Magazine Group, today announced that Raymond E. Maloney has been named president and CEO of Intertec Publishing Corporation, K-III's trade magazine publishing unit. Mr. Maloney, a 26-year veteran of Intertec, had previously been executive vice president.
 "It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Ray Maloney as president of Intertec," Mr. McQuillen said. "Ray is a seasoned and successful executive with extensive experience in trade magazine publishing. He has consistently exhibited the skills and ability necessary to effectively manage the growth of Intertec in the 90s."
 Mr. Maloney joined Intertec in 1967 and has held the positions of controller, vice president-finance and chief financial officer. The positions of president and CEO had been vacant.
 Intertec is a wholly owned subsidiary of K-III Communications. Founded in 1886, Intertec is one of the largest trade magazine operations in the U.S. The diversified business publishing house has headquarters in Overland Park, Kan., and divisional offices in Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, New York City and White Plains, N.Y.; it employs more than 500 people. In addition to the 24 publications in the U.S., Intertec publishes foreign language magazines, newsletters, directories/annuals, show dailies and technical books and pricing guides.
 K-III Communications is a diversified publishing, information and direct response company. Its properties include such well known publications as Seventeen and New York magazines, Weekly Reader, Daily Racing Form and Funk & Wagnalls New Encyclopedia.
