 MAIER NAMED VICE PRESIDENT AT LUKENS
 COATESVILLE, Pa., Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Lukens Inc. (NYSE: LUC)


today announced the promotion of John N. Maier to the position of vice president and controller.
 He previously served as controller for the Fortune 500 company headquartered in Coatesville.
 Maier is responsible for financial analysis, internal and external financial reporting, and income taxes. In his new position, he assumes responsibility for internal financial controls, corporate strategic planning, business development and communications and the Lukens Development Corporation.
 He joined Lukens Steel as controller in 1991 and was named controller of Lukens Inc. in January 1992. Prior to his association with Lukens, Maier spent 14 years with various divisions of the Continental Group, including director of capital plans and special projects, Continental Forest Industries; vice president of finance, Continental Woodlands, Inc.; and vice president and controller, Kiewit Continental.
 A certified public accountant, Maier is an accounting graduate of the University of Georgia and is a member of the Financial Executives Institute. He and his wife, Candy, live with their two children in Kennett Square, Pa.
