MAGNETEK ACQUIRES TELEDYNE INET

 MAGNETEK ACQUIRES TELEDYNE INET
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- MagneTek Inc. (NYSE: MAG)

today announced the acquisition of Teledyne INET, Torrance, Calif. With annual revenues approximating $45 million, INET division of Teledyne Inc. manufactures electrical and electronic power products, and engineers ground support systems for airports. Terms of the transaction were not announced.
According to MagneTek president and chief executive officer, Frank Perna Jr., the former Teledyne division will be merged with MagneTek's power electronics operations in Anaheim, Calif., to form a new business unit, MagneTek Power Technology Systems. This MagneTek operation will constitute one of America's leading suppliers of large uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) and aircraft ground support systems (AGSSs), as well as Mil-Spec power supplies and frequency converters.
UPSs provide emergency power for critical loads such as data processing centers and health care facilities and will be used increasingly as standby power systems for commercial buildings in general, Perna said. AGSSs include, primarily, passenger boarding bridges, electric power supplies and air conditioning systems for aircraft parked at airport terminals, a market which holds great potential for other MagneTek electrical products as well.
MagneTek provides a broad line of Energy Engineered(TM) electrical equipment and services, including lighting ballasts, transformers, power supplies, motors, generators, drives and controls to commercial, industrial and utility markets worldwide. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange (trading symbol: MAG), MagneTek reported sales of $1.23 billion for its 1992 fiscal year, ended June 30.
