          MADISON GAS & ELECTRIC PROMOTES FOUR EXECUTIVES
    MADISON, Wis., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Madison Gas and Electric


Co. (NASDAQ/NMS: MDSN) board of directors promoted the following four executives to new officer positions effective Dec. 1, 1991:
    Gary J. Wolter from secretary and corporate attorney to vice president-administration and secretary.  Wolter, 37, has been with MGE for 7 years.
    Robert E. Domek from assistant vice president-human resources to vice president-human resources.  Domek, 61, has been with MGE for 22 years.
    Joseph T. Krzos from treasurer to assistant vice president- accounting and control.  Krzos, 47, has been with MGE for 9 years.
    Terry A. Hanson from manager-internal audit to treasurer.  Hanson, 39, has been with MGE for 10 years.
    These new officer positions will align management responsibilities with the company's recently completed corporate performance goals and corporate objectives.
    Terrence J. Schuh, senior vice president-gas operations, and G. Howard Phipps, senior vice president-finance, are leaving the company and are expected to continue to be available as consultants and advisors to senior management.
    MGE is a public utility engaged in generation and transmission of electric energy and in its distribution over 250 square miles in Dane County.  The company also distributes natural gas through 962 square miles in Dane, Columbia and Iowa counties.
