MAC NETWORK TARGETS ATM SECURITY ISSUES

WILMINGTON, Del., May 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Money Access Service Inc. (MAC) targets ATM security issues at a day-long seminar for its member financial institutions to be held on Wednesday, May 3, at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Philadelphia.
More than 50 financial institutions are scheduled to participate in the event, which will include presentations by the Philadelphia Economic Crime Unit, and FINESCOR security management consultants. Rick Welsh, vice president of Government Affairs for CoreStates Financial Corp, will provide an update on Regulation E, and review the status on proposed state legislation mandating enhanced security measures at ATMs.
According to Jack Small, director of Client Relations and Sales for the MAC network, the May 3 seminar should provide MAC member financial institutions with a comprehensive program designed to assist banks in both meeting state security requirements, as well as educating their cardholders about responsible and safe ATM practices.
"Consumer safety is a major concern in the electronic funds transfer industry today," said Small. "We are committed to providing our financial institutions with access to the information and resources that they need to ensure the safety of each MAC cardholder."
The MAC system currently has 1,400 participating financial institutions in 16 states (primarily in Middle Atlantic and Midwest regions) and 26 million cardholders. It is the top electronic funds transfer network in total transactions, and a leading provider of point of sale services. MAC is a registered trademark of Money Access Service Inc., which is a subsidiary of Electronic Payment Services, Inc.
