M/A-COM signs with Newark Electronics; adds catalog channel to distribution strategy.

LOWELL, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NOV. 25, 1996--

Provides Design Engineers with Increased Access to M/A-COM's Wireless Products

Further strengthening its distribution channel strategy, M/A-COM, Inc., a leading global provider of wireless components and sub-system solutions, today announced its agreement with Newark Electronics, the largest catalog distributor in North America. Now, for the first time, design engineers and other customers looking for replacement parts can find M/A- COM's microwave, cellular and radio frequency (RF) components available through the catalog channel.

Also for the first time, Newark Electronics customers will have access to a broader selection of wireless component products within the catalog. Under the terms of the contract M/A-COM will provide wireless products including RF integrated circuits, passive and control devices, antennas, cables and interconnects to Newark's distribution centers throughout the world.

"The combination of Newark's distribution capabilities, both in the Americas and worldwide, and M/A-COM's global presence and increased capabilities in volume production, is a successful partnership-in-the-making," said Robert Ralston, vice president at Newark Electronics.

"We offer M/A-COM increased access to regional segments of the design engineering community; and M/A-COM's wireless products not only extends the breadth of our book with the new wireless category, but also makes the catalog valuable to a whole new market segment. This is a win-win arrangement all around."

"The addition of Newark's catalog to our distribution sales channel lends support to M/A-COM's overall distribution strategy. That is, to provide a broader community of design engineers continuous regional and global access to the special wireless components they require. We intend to do this through a select group of specialty distributors," said Mike Valo, M/A-COM's distribution sales manager for the Americas. "This new agreement with Newark enables us to extend the reach of our strategy, while providing even greater accessibility to M/A-COM's products."
