 CAMPBELL LAUNCHES SOUP INTO POLAND
CAMDEN, N.J., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its commitment to expand its brands globally, Campbell Soup Company (NYSE: CPB) announced today the introduction of its popular condensed soups into Poland, the company's first entry into Eastern Europe.
"Today marks a significant milestone for us at Campbell Soup Company as well as for the Polish people," said Herbert M. Baum, executive vice president of Campbell Soup Company and president of Campbell North and South America, the division responsible for global soup marketing, at a press conference in Warsaw. "For the first time, we are marketing our soup in Eastern Europe. And, also for the first time, shoppers in Poland are able to buy America's favorite condensed soups."
"Poland is a leading soup-consuming nation," Baum explained. "Polish consumers consume 2-1/2-times more soup than Americans. We are pleased to offer Polish consumers the convenience, high quality and most importantly, value, that our condensed soups offer."
Campbell is introducing three of its most popular United States soup varieties into Poland -- Chicken Noodle, Cream of Tomato, Cream of Mushroom -- as well as Split Pea with Ham, Minestrone, Beef with Vegetables and Barley and two children's soups, Teddy Bear and Dinosaur Vegetable.
The soups are being produced in Maxton, N.C., and are then shipped to Poland for distribution to retail outlets throughout the country. Campbell is investing several million dollars in the launch, including distribution, marketing and advertising. The company's well known tagline, "Mm! Mm! Good!", translates into the Polish, "M'm! M'm! Pycha!", and is being used in special advertising for the country.
This major launch is driven by the company vision, "Campbell Brands Preferred Around the World," Campbell's long-term strategy and commitment for expanding its well-known brands throughout the world. While Campbell is the world's largest producer of soup, sales outside of the United States account for only 5 percent of its total soup sales.
