US toy and gift maker Schylling Associates Inc announced it had been bought by investment firms Crofton Capital LLC and Gladstone Investment Corp for an undisclosed amount.

- CTC GLOBAL, NARI GROUP FORM JV IN CHINA

California-based ACCC conductor and ancillary hardware components maker CTC Global said it had teamed up with the NARI Group, wholly-owned by utility State Grid Corporation of China, to produce its conductors through a new entity, Jiangsu NARI CTC Composite Material Co Ltd.

- DIRECT ENERGY FINALISES ACQUISITION OF BOUNCE ENERGY

Direct Energy, the North American unit of UK energy group Centrica Plc (LON:CNA), said it had wrapped up the takeover of Texas-based retail electricity provider Bounce Energy Inc.

- HAPAG-LLOYD TO MERGE WITH HOLDING COMPANY TO SIMPLIFY GROUP STRUCTURE

German container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd AG said it will merge with its holding entity, Hapag-Lloyd Holding AG, so that the groupa[euro](tm)s structure is simplified.

- PINNACLE WRAPS UP USD2.8BN ACQUISITION OF AMERISTAR CASINOS

US casino operator Pinnacle Entertainment Inc (NYSE:PNK) said it had concluded its USD2.8bn (EUR2.1bn) takeover of peer Ameristar Casinos Inc (NASDAQ:ASCA), thus doubling the number of properties it has to 16, located in nine US states.

- QUINTILES INKS DEAL TO BUY NOVELLA CLINICAL

US pharmaceutical services major Quintiles Transnational Holdings Inc (NYSE:Q) said it had agreed to buy full-service clinical research organization (CRO) Novella Clinical.

- ROSTEC, BOMBARDIER COULD SIGN JV DEAL SOON

Russiaa[euro](tm)s state-run Rostec Corp has not abandoned talks with Canadian group Bombardier Inc (TSE:BBD.B) over the potential formation of an aircraft construction joint venture and even expects to sign a deal in the near future.

- PAULSON & CO TO TAKE STEINWAY PRIVATE IN USD512M DEAL

US investment firm Paulson & Co Inc has inked a deal to buy and delist Steinway Musical Instruments Inc (NYSE:LVB) for an increased sum of USD40.00 (EUR30.19) per share in cash, or USD512m in total, the pair said.

- CASH AMERICA INTL CLOSES USD103M BUY OF TEXAS PAWN LENDING CHAIN

US speciality financial services provider Cash America International Inc (NYSE:CSH) said it had finalised the previously announced purchase of a Top Dollar Pawn chain from TDP Superstores Corp for some USD103m (EUR77.7m) in cash.

- EQT BUYS INTO SWISS SMILE

Nordic private equity group EQT Holding AB said it had invested CHF44m (USD47m/EUR35.4m) in exchange for a minority stake in dental chain Swiss Smile under a pact with the companya[euro](tm)s founders and majority owners Haleh Abivardi and Golnar Abivardi.

- OAKTREE, APOLLO CUT STAKES IN COUNTRYWIDE

UK estate agency Countrywide Plc (LON:CWD) said that Oaktree Capital Group LLC (NYSE:OAK) and Apollo Global Management LLC (NYSE:APO) had reduced their respective stakes in the company by selling shares to institutional investors via a private placement.

US technology giant Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has taken over video discovery website Matcha.tv for between USD1m (EUR754,000) and USD1.5m.
