Lynn Atchison.

As a working mom for 18 years, Lynn Atchison says time management is a challenge. An early riser to get chores done, she admits to being a terrible housekeeper and says her family often eats on the run. "Something has to go," she says of the limited time. Yet, she adds, she's learned to take care of what's important and to not worry about unimportant details.

Title: CFO

Company: HomeAway Inc. provides a global marketplace for vacation rental properties, representing homes, condos, guesthouses, cottages, and cabins in more than 90 countries.

Born: Dallas, Texas, December 1959

Spouse: Married to Randy; it will be 25 years on New Years Eve!

Children: Hunter, age 18 and Holly, age 15

Education: BBA in Accounting from Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas, 1982

Career Summary: 1982-1990, Senior Audit Manager, Ernst & Young; 1990-94, independent consultant, controller to various small high-tech companies; 1994-96, CFO, Travelogix Inc. (software development); 1996-2003, CFO, Hoover's Inc.; 2004-06, CFO, Infoglide Software; 2006-Present, CFO, HomeAway Inc.

FEI Chapter: Member of the Austin Chapter since 1999; have held several leadership positions (currently, in my second year as Chapter President); and I've served on the chapter board for several years.

Leisure: Much time is devoted to following my children's sports. My daughter is in volleyball, soccer and track; my son was a competitive gymnast for about 5 years.

My husband and I use IMovie software (on my Mac computer) to create home movies and DVDs. We shoot video all the time at our kids' sports events, at our condo and on vacation. I love editing the video, and adding music and other transitions to create short movies of the best moments of the events.

Time Management: On the professional side, a key to time management is delegating. If you can develop and encourage the people that work for you, that provides huge leverage.

Stress Management: Getting out of town--particularly to our condo, which is about three hours away, on the Texas Coast. We love to go there and sit on the porch overlooking Arkansas Bay. It's a great place either for solitude and relaxation and also fun with friends.

A trip to Sonoma is also high on the list; we have a long weekend planned to visit the Russian River Valley in November.

Also relaxing is reading magazines about celebrity gossip by the pool!

Favorite Book: My favorite all-time book is Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien. I've read the trilogy twice and enjoyed the other Tolkien books that read like encyclopedias of Middle Earth. This series is the ultimate struggle against evil, and despite the fact that it's a fantasy world, the underlying themes are human.

I recently read Kite Runner, by Khaled Hosseini and Lyndon Johnson, The American Dream, by Doris Kearns Goodwin. In general, I love to read all types of books--both fiction and non-fiction.

Who would you want to spend one hour with and why? Johnny Depp. Do you need to ask why?

What's the best advice you've received? When a former boss learned that I was going to "take the summer off" between career changes, he indicated that if I were serious about true time off, to wait to prepare and circulate my resume; otherwise, I would not use that time to recharge. I took his advice and had the greatest summer with my kids!

Favorite Job/s: I was a cheerleader in high school and college and taught other cheerleaders in several Southern states for three summers while I was in college.

Now, I love my career in finance and being a CFO. And I truly enjoy working for emerging businesses--and being part of the team that is creating and building systems from "whole cloth." I like the challenges of ambiguity and of fast-changing environments.
