Lynam lover's family keep low.
Laura Ewing was known in the tiny Co Laois hamlet of Luggacurren as Florence Sythes.
Florence left her well-to-do farming background many years ago and only returned occasionally.
Locals in the scattered farming area know little of the red-head who bedded Clare-born TV smoothie Lynam, despite the fact she spent her entire childhood there.
"I know the family alright, but I don't know the individuals in it very well," said local publican Dick Dunne.
The fact that the Sythes family were seen as well-off in a struggling agricultural community set them apart.
"You can tell by their name - Sythes - that they're different," said one farmer yesterday.
The brother of Florence Sythes, Ned, still lives and works on the family land.
He would not comment on the revelation that his sister had a torrid affair with the BBC Match of the Day presenter.
But yesterday, locals were amused rather than outraged at the antics of one of their own daughters.
"It's awful strange that she went all the way to England and ended up sleeping with an Irishman. She could have done that here," said one local woman.
