Lyallpur Literature Festival begins at UAF.

FAISALABAD -- The 5-day Lyallpur Literature Festival began at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) here on Monday in which students from 31 universities across the country, are raising voice to their innovative ideas.

According to a spokesman of the university, the festival featuring book fair, Qirat and Naat competition, literary discussions, debates, dramas competitions and Mushairas etc. is being organized by the office of Senior Tutor and Department of Libraries.

At Qirat competition, Hafiz Muhammad Tayyab from Punjab University (PU) bagged first position, whereas Hafiz Rehmatullah from GC University Lahore got second and Nakash Saeed from University of Gujrat stood third.

At Naat competition, Shahzad Khan from GCU Lahore clinched first, Zainul Hassan from Punjab University stood second and Amna Hussain from Punjab Medical College got third position.

The festival, having two components including All Pakistan Students Week and Book Fair, is meant to promote literary activities and provide a platform to the youth to showcase their abilities before the gathering.

The student week comprises, Naat and Qirat contests, bilingual declamation, Punjabi Takra, quiz competition, Mushaira, folk songs, and drama competitions etc.

At the book fair, renowned publishers from four corners of the country set up their stalls, which remain a source of attraction for the books lovers. As many as 36 books stalls, having more than 100,000 books were set up at the event. The fair was aimed at promoting the reading habits among the youth.

Punjab University, Lahore College for Women, UAVAS, GCUL, King Edward Medical University,

University of Jamshoro, University of Poonch, Rawalakot, AJK, Karakoram Int. University Gilgit Baltistan, Gomal University DI Khan, NUML, Quaid-e-Azam University, University of Sargodha, BZU, UET Lahore, Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Peshawar University, Sind University and Gujrat University etc are prominent among the 31 universities which are participating at the students week.

As many as 104 male and 56 female students from various universities are taking part at the contests.

On March 5, Punjabi Takra, final round of bilingual declamation and an initial round of Mushaira and bait bazi will be held. On March 6, quiz competition, final round of Mushaira and bait bazi will be arranged.

On March 7, the day will bring folk songs competition and drama contest first round.

On March 8, drama contest final round and concluding ceremony will be held.
