Lucky escape as car flips on to side.

A WOMAN had a lucky escape after her car dramatically ended up on its side after crashing into a driveway.

The vehicle appeared to have damaged a fence but avoided smashing into a house at Elmgrove Street, off the Cliftonville Road, in North Belfast.

The cause of the collision on Wednesday morning is not clear, however, the house faces a steep hill at Torrens Crescent and yesterday conditions on some roads were icy.

A PSNI spokesman said a singlevehicle crash was reported after 8am. He added a woman driver was in the car and there were "no reports of any injuries".

Number of same of in less than SDLP councillor Paul McCusker said action needs to be taken to improve safety on the road.

He added: "This is the second serious incident to happen at this location in less than a week.

"On one occasion a young child suffered concussion after being knocked down by a car.

"We have been demanding that Transport NI put in traffic calming measures before someone is killed bd but unfortunately the department is not taking this seriously enough.

"It's time now they acted before someone is killed.

"We will continue to fight and call on Transport NI to urgently put in traffic calming. PSNI also have a responsibility and we will be seeking an urgent meeting with them to ensure they are taking this seriously."

Transport NI were contacted, however, no one was available for comment.
