Low bridge leaves lorry driver in a bit of a jam; vehicle gets trapped under 9ft 3ins city centre underpass.

By ANDY RICHARDSON News Reporter andy.richardson@trinitymirror.com @Andy_Brum_Mail A TRUCK driver was left red-faced after his lorry became stuck beneath a bridge in Birmingham city centre.

The collision with the 9ft 3in bridge happened in Dale End, which has become notorious after similar incidents.

The 7.5-ton Isuzu commercial vehicle struck the underside of the busy bridge, which takes bus traffic in and out of the city centre, at 10.10am yesterday.

The male driver was shaken but unhurt and called his bosses to explain what had happened.

It was not the first time a trucker has been caught unawares by the bridge.

It has a tapering underside and gets lower towards its centre point.

A lorry became wedged in the same spot in June, after another truck was trapped back in February.
