Love rival 'was shot in head'.
Scotsman Stephen Bowden, 46, was killed by a single shot in the face fired by rival David Robson, a court heard.
Both men were ex-lovers of landlady Brenda Grensted, 43.
Exeter Crown Court heard Mr Bowden, of Stirling, had a long relationship with the landlady which ended in 2002.
When he returned to Scotland, she had an affair with 47-year-old Robson, his best friend, who moved into her pub, the Sanford Arms in Wellington, Somerset.
The court heard the affair ended last year, but in October Robson went to the pub armed with a revolver when he learned Bowden was back from Scotland.
Yesterday, the landlady described the shooting, she said: 'I could see David's back and I saw his arm go up and I thought he had hit Steve. I never heard a shot and the next thing I knew I saw blood trickling from Steve's upper lip.'
Robson, of Bridgwater, Somerset, denies murder.
The trial continues.
