Lotus chairman Jim Manzi.

LOTUS chairman Jim Manzi on growth trends: "The apparent growth rate in software sales has been 25% to 50%. The growth is caused by the conversion to Windows--that is, from character-based applications to graphical applications. The real growth rate is in the 5% to 12% range. In the next two or three years we will complete that conversion and settle back into a more realistic growth rate of 5% to 10%, at least in the traditional shrink-wrapped software market." (Quoted in Windows Magazine, 3/93)
