A TEENAGER AGERA has spoken of her GER has spoken of her anguish after her boyfriend and a close pal plunged to their deaths in tragically similar accidents just weeks apart.

Ben Mclean's body was found in the back garden of an Edinburgh flat on Friday after the 22-year-old student fell from the second floor during a party.

In a tragic twist of fate, his girlfriend Paige Watson's pal Kyle Doherty, a promising footballer, died earlier this month after he fell down a utility shaft during Hogmanay celebrations in Manchester.

Paige tweeted yesterday: "Why has this happened? Life is so evil.

"How are we meant to cope when all the best people are getting taken from us? "My heart actually hurts and it's the most bizarre yet painful thing I've ever experienced in my life.

"This just isn't fair. Why Ben?" The 19-year-old from Paisley, who had been in a relationship with Ben for 16 months, added: "Wakening up to realise all this has actually happened is just repeatedly shattering my heart.

"Being in love with your best friend is the greatest feeling in the world. I'll never forget you, rest in peace, Benji."

Paige said she took comfort knowing that Ben would be able to meet Kyle, who was nicknamed "Doc" by friends, in heaven.

She said: "At least Ben will get to meet the boy Doc and cut some quality mwi (mad with it) shapes."

Kyle, an under-20s player at Stenhousemuir, was laid to rest on Thursday - just hours before Ben's fatal accident.

The dance music fan's body was discovered down a service shaft in Manchester on New Year's Day - 12 hours after he vanished from the city's Suede nightclub, where he was enjoying a night out with friends.

Hours before her boyfriend's tragic death, Paige tweeted her final tribute to her footballer pal on the day of his funeral. She wrote: "Dance forever Kyle Doc."

Ben, a second-year medical student at Edinburgh University, is survived by his parents Kevin and Tracey and two sisters, Megan, 16, and Olivia, 11.

The family live in Barrhead, near Glasgow.

Megan was among those who posted heartfelt tributes on social media.

Describing her brother as her "best friend", she added: "Please let me wake up with this having been a twisted nightmare.

"Ben was too young, too smart and too brilliant for it to end like this."

Police yesterday said they are treating Ben's death as unexplained.

Alexander Baskhanov, of Edinburgh, appeared at the city's sheriff court yesterday in connection with drugs supply offences following the discovery of the student's body.

The 19-year-old was charged with three offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

He made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.
