Los Angeles Team Mentoring (LATM) Launches 14th After-School Program for At-Risk Youth.

In Partnership with Disney Channel, LATM Opens at James Madison Middle School in North Hollywood with a Celebration for Students, Teachers and Mentors

LOS ANGELES -- Yesterday, Los Angeles Team Mentoring (LATM), one of LAUSD's premier after-school programs that targets at-risk middle-school youth, announced the opening of its 14th after-school program at James Madison Middle School in North Hollywood. The program was kicked off by a celebration with the students of James Madison, as well as their teachers and mentors.

The James Madison LATM program opened in partnership with Disney Channel, who will supply mentors to the after-school program, and will support the school's field trips and other events.

"We are thrilled to have Disney Channel as our James Madison Middle School sponsor, to provide us with its dedicated staff as mentors, and to support the school's events," said Liza Bray, executive director of Los Angeles Team Mentoring. "Disney is a wonderful company that has shown us great support and we look forward to expanding our relationship through this partnership."

"Disney Channel aims to reach kids and 'tweens' with relevant stories that recognize their aspirations and potential. Our staff is fortunate and proud to uphold Disney's heritage of volunteerism and through Los Angeles Team Mentoring, we look forward to providing some great kids support and real-life role models who can help them build self-esteem," said Tonya Dobine, Vice President, Human Resources, Disney ABC Television Group.

The kick-off event was held for students of the program, as well as for teachers and mentors, giving them a glimpse into their new after-school program. LATM hosted various team-building activities for the students to get acquainted with their peers and mentors.

The opening of LATM at James Madison marks the 14th school that the Los Angeles-based non-profit has opened in its 18 years. With the addition of this program, LATM continues to provide a distinctive, innovative and successful approach to mentoring that is targeted specifically at at-risk middle-school youth.
