Looking for our Welsh roots; Yousay IN YOUR OPINION...

COULD you help our family to reconnect with its roots? The Edwards family, who now live in Suffolk, have been trying to research our family tree. It has been made more difficult because, as far as we know, there are no living relatives to ask about our Welsh past.

I have managed to obtain the Army records of my father, Frederick Edwards, who was born in 1912. He was a career soldier who joined up at the age of 18, in 1930, and served right through to the end of World War II. A photograph, probably taken during the war, when he was posted to Egypt, shows him with sergeant stripes on his arm.

His joining-up papers show he was living in Trethomas, near Caerphilly, at that time. It would also seem that his parents, Thomas Edwards and Susan Blanche Edwards, were still at the same address in the mid-1930s.

If anybody remembers the Edwards family, or has any information, please contact me at 68, Lakeside Rise, Lowestoft, Suffolk NR32 5BD, email me on or call 01502 731 783.
