Looking back.

THIS photograph has just surfaced in our archive and it shows a very young Frank Cook, the former MP of Stockton North, who died earlier this year.

The picture shows Frank as a supporter, of the Telstar Pub darts team. The picture was taken at the Oak Leaf Club in South Bank around 1967.

The champion darts team in the Stockton Area Newcastle Breweries Blue Star League were receiving their prizes.

The members of the Billingham-based Telstar pub are lined up with their supporters including Frank.

Back in 1967, Frank who had worked as a teacher and building construction worker, was still 16 years away from taking his seat in the House of Commons.

The line-up on that prize night includes, on the back row, left to right: Stan Booth, Albert Gamble, Bernie Pugh, Eddie Abbey, Les Hutchinson, Derek Atkinson (captain), Roy Sigsworth and Boyce Butters.

Centre row, from left to right: Bruce Spendley, Albie Parkin, Frank Cook and Chick Chamberlain. Front row, from left to right, Brian Warburton, Vic Parry, Mal Dunning and Geordie Young.
