Lonza preservatives approved in Japan.
JAPAN: Lonza was recently informed by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare that IPBC (iodopropynyl butylcarbamate) has received official approval for use in cosmetic and personal care products under Pharmaceutical and Food Safety Bureau Notification No. 0524001.
The approved usage level of IPBC for both rinse-off and leave-on products is 0.02%, which includes lip care, oral care and baby care products, with the exception of aerosolized formulations. IPBC approval by the Japanese authorities may bring the fungicide another step closer to complete global acceptance for use in a wide range of cosmetic and personal care products.
