Longwood's Hoyle turns up the heat at Netherthong.

LONGWOOD Harriers' Peter Hoyle enjoyed success in the Netherthong 10k road race.

Hoyle recorded an impressive time of 36 minutes and 16 seconds as he cruised home to a deserved victory.

It was a successful event for the Harriers as Hoyle was ably supported by a trio of juniors, led by Elliott Thompson, who finished fifth, Nathaniel Stock in seventh and Niall O'Connell in 10th.

Completing the Longwood contingent was veteran Donald Kennedy in 12th place - his run earning him the prize for the first veteran home 0ver 50.

Thompson and Stock were also in action in the Cusworth 10k road race.

On the undulating course near Doncaster it was Stock who led home the Longwood contingent, finishing in 27th place, with Thompson 53rd.

The meeting included the Yorkshire Vets 10k Championships and Longwood's Jim McCormack was placed 188th and third in the Over 70 category. Longwood results at Netherthong: 1 Peter Hoyle 36.16, 5 Elliott Thompson 38.51, 7 Nathaniel Stock 39.48, 10 Niall O'Connell 40.38, 12 Donald Kennedy 41.00 ( 1st vet 0ver 50) Longwood results at Cusworth: 27 Nathaniel Stock 37.50 (personal best), 53 Elliott Thompson 40.36, 188 Jim McCormack 49.31 (3rd Vet Over 70).
