Long range Bluetooth module introduced by TDC.
TDC, part of the Abacus Group and a technical component distributor, has launched a Bluetooth module with an open-field range of 1km from its internal antenna.
According to the company, the EZURiO BTM402 BISM II module from TDC is a qualified Bluetooth version 2.0 solution with a range of up to 1km, while Bluetooth devices normally have a range of 10m, rising to 300m for high performance modules.
The module has been developed for battery powered applications and supports low power modes, including a sniff mode where consumption is 2.5mA. In full operation, the module draws 130mA from a 3.6V-5V dc source, while its compact size of 25mm x 35mm x 8mm further facilitates implementation in portable systems.
The BTM402 incorporates the CSR BlueCore 04 chipset and features 9 general purpose I/O ports, two 8-bit analogue input lines and three PCM audio channels. The module is pin and format compatible with EZURiO 802.11 WLAN modules, enabling developers to implement Bluetooth and Wi-Fi versions of a product using the same board, the company said.
No pricing details were disclosed.
