LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 13, 1999--

WinAir Airlines (www.flywinair.com), Long Beach's hometown airline, will transport a host of young scholars during next week's Elementary School Incentive Program to Sacramento, part of an on-going community awareness program launched last Jan. 28th by the airline.

Departing for the single-day trip next Monday from Long Beach to Sacramento will be students from William Cullen Bryant Elementary School; Charles A. Buffum Elementary School; Minnie Gant Elementary School; Robert E. Lee Elementary School; William F. Prisk Elementary School; Benjamin Tucker Elementary School and Frances Willard Elementary School.

Leading the delegation will be Councilman H. Delano Roosevelt, 4th Council, District, City of Long Beach. Councilman Roosevelt is the grandson of former United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Councilman Roosevelt will be taking the Student Council president and vice president of each elementary school in his district to Sacramento to participate in WinAir Airlines' Elementary School Incentive Program, which was launched by the carrier last December. The program provides students with an opportunity to spend a day with California State Legislators at the State Capital.

"Our children are our future and its important to provide them with experiences that will help them grow into well-rounded adults," Roosevelt said. "I'm honored to participate in a program that gives students a glimpse of how state government works -- particularly given my family's history with public service and government."
