Logic Works to provide ERwin data modeling support for EDA/SQL; ERwin/ERX will offer the ability to visualize and manage existing EDA/SQL structures through CDIF-based integration between EDA/Exchange and ERwin/ERX.

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 5, 1995--Logic Works Inc. (NASDAQ: LGWX), a leading provider of client/server database design and business process reengineering software solutions, today announced that it will begin a development effort to produce an interface to support Information Builders Inc.'s EDA/SQL's bridging technology, EDA/Exchange.

ERwin/ERX is the first data modeling tool to enter the EDA/Exchange certification program. Information Builders Inc. and Logic Works Inc. have formed a cooperative alliance to provide CDIF-based integration between EDA/Exchange and ERwin.

Logic Works' ERwin is a powerful data modeling tool that enhances the design and generation of client/server database applications. ERwin forward- and reverse-engineers databases and generates SQL schema, triggers and stored procedures for a wide variety of SQL and desktop databases, including Oracle, Sybase, DB2, and Informix.

Commenting on the announcement, John Senor, vice president of the Enterprise Data Access Division at Information Builders stated, "We are enthusiastic that a market leader in database design has committed to support IBI's newly announced integration strategy."

Information Builders and Logic Works will work together to create CDIF-based integration between EDA/Exchange and ERwin. IBI's EDA/Exchange is a bi-directional bridge that will transfer data between CASE tools and the EDA catalog. This allows EDA catalogs to be generated from ERwin, and the automatic creation of EDA models. Logic Works' CDIF (CASE Data Interchange Format) link will offer the ability to visualize and manage existing EDA/SQL structures, both relational and non-relational. This joint solution offers complete management of data resources in the EDA/SQL environment. ERwin is a complementary add-on to the IBI product family, via bi-directional ODBC connections to the respective DBMS catalog.
