Lockerbie appeal OK.

CONVICTED Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al-Megrahi has been granted leave to appeal against his conviction, it emerged last night.

The High Court of Justiciary in Edinburgh said it had set a preliminary hearing for October 15 at Kamp Zeist in Holland.

Al Megrahi, 49, was jailed for life in January for the murder of 270 people in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie in December 1988.

The grounds for the appeal have not yet been made public.
