Locals urn not amused.

PLANS to open a pet crematorium have been slammed by locals who said it would drive visitors away.

Siobhan Butterwort, of Redcross, Co Wicklow, said: "Tourism supports a lot of families in this area.

"A crematorium would drive tourists out."

Fianna Fail TD Dick Roche warned there would be no turning back once permission was approved.

But vet Andrew Byrne, one of the two men behind the plan, said there was no health threat.

He said Ireland is the only European country with no pet crematorium.
