Local election results 2018 in full: All councils declared so far after millions vote in England; Jeremy Corbyn's party had high hopes ahead of the first ballot box test since last year's snap general election. It didn't live up to all of them. Here are all the results so far.

Byline: Dan Bloom

Millions of voters have been to the polls in a mixed night for Labour in the 2018 local elections.

Jeremy Corbyn's party had high hopes ahead of the first ballot box test since last year's snap general election.

And in some areas it lived up to them - seizing Plymouth off the Tories and knocking out the Tories' only Greater Manchester foothold of Trafford.

But Labour failed to take key London councils like Wandsworth, held by the Tories for decades, which it was gunning for.

And Conservatives strengthened their hold on key Labour targets outside the capital like Amber Valley, Walsall, Dudley and Swindon as the reds failed to break through.

Meanwhile UKIP faced collapse and a lot of the spoils went to the Tories, including all six ex-UKIP seats in Dudley where the Conservatives and Labour are now neck-and-neck. UKIP did at least get one important seat - that of the Labour leader in Derby.

The Lib Dems had a good night too, winning back Richmond-upon-Thames from the Tories after eight years out of power.
