Local education official posts photos on social media showing him firing a gun.

ySTANBUL (CyHAN)- Bekir Aslan, the public official responsible for the education system in the Erbaa district of Tokat province, shared a photo on his Facebook account on Sunday that shows him firing a gun into the air during a visit to schools in the district.

The Cihan news agency reported on Monday that Aslan visited a number of village schools over the weekend with Levent Yazycy, the director of education in Tokat province. The photos, which were taken during a school visit on Sunday, caused astonishment and disbelief among his Facebook followers, many of whom left disapproving comments under the photo.

Aslan is the brother of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Tokat deputy Zeyid Aslan, who has come to public attention due to repeatedly swearing and making inappropriate sexual remarks Parliament in recent years. On one infamous occasion in 2013, Zeyid Aslan strongly criticized four female photographers who took a photo of him sleeping on a sofa in the yard outside the Parliament building in Ankara.

"No journalists will be allowed inside [Parliament] during the next [parliamentary] term. I won't let you enter. I will do my best. Do you think what you are doing is journalism? We [deputies] are human beings and get tired as well. What if I take a photo showing what is between your legs and publish it in a newspaper? I would be called immoral. But it's called journalism when you do it," Zeyid Aslan said. The deputy was referred to the AK Party's disciplinary board, which merely gave him a warning.
