Local News Extra: Christmas fun and all that jazz; DROITWICH.

THE WORCESTERSHIRE Youth Jazz Orchestra are set to perform their annual Christmas Concert at the British Legion in Droitwich in a bid to raise cash for charity.

Playing in their final concert of the year, the band, which includes saxophonists, trumpet players and keyboard players, hope to raise thousands for the British Legion. WYJO Musical Director, Ian Hattersley, said: "It's been another great year for us.

" We have been extremely busy and we're now really looking forward to ending the year on a jazz note."

The orchestra are set to perform a mixed repertoire of arrangements including jazz standards with a Christmas theme and well-known Christmas classics in a swing style.

Mr Hattersley added: "The orchestra works hard to perform at the highest level we can to ensure our up and coming young musicians have the chance to participate in creating one of the most important and creative musical art forms.

"Our Christmas Concert always appeals to everyone."

All proceeds raised from ticket sales will be donated to Droitwich British Legion.

Tickets are pounds 3 and are available on the door. The concert begins at 7.30pm.
