Llantrisant win 10-goal thriller; Merthyr Tydfil Simbec League.

LLANTRISANT booked their place in the second round of the Greyhound Cup with a remarkable 6-4 victory over Western Hotel.

It looked as if it was going to be plain sailing after a flying start saw them go ahead, be gifted an own goal and then score a third from the penalty spot - all inside the opening five minutes.

And things got even worse for the visitors as two more efforts made it 5-0.

But the Western Hotel then started to settle and Jason Morris opened their account, John Lambert adding a second to make the interval score 5-2.

Western were now firing on all cylinders and Michael McDonald got a third before Morris struck his second goal and made the impossible comeback a distinct reality.

But the hosts ended any thoughts of a remarkable turnaround with a late sixth goal.
