Liza with a V.

SPECULATION on what led to the demise of Liza Minnelli's 16-month marriage has been rampant in recent weeks, but The Buzz's favorite David Gest guess links the schism to V Graham Norton, the irreverent British talk show hosted by the United Kingdom's most famous gay TV star. On an episode that originally aired in January in the U.K., Gest bragged that Liza had "lost about 80 pounds'--to which she responded, "I'm not as obsessed with people being thin as I think my husband is." But the most awkward moment came later, with Norton's other guest that night, Andy Bell of pop duo Erasure. Talking about his musical partner, Vince Clarke, Bell quipped, "We are like a married couple, actually ... he's straight, I'm gay, but--" At which point Norton cut him off with, "That would make it a married couple." Cut to Liza, laughing uproariously. Sadly, July's BBC America airing of the show did not include a reaction shot of Gest.
