Liza is new toast of The Big Breakfast.
Witty Liza was picked as the perfect couch partner for wise-cracking presenter Johnny Vaughan - her close pal.
The 34-year-old replaces undies model Kelly Brook, 19, who quit her pounds 200,000-a-year contract for the show amid a barrage of criticism and claims that she needed autocue help with big words.
Channel 4 bosses and the show's producers, Planet 24, were impressed with Liza's previous appearances as a stand-in presenter and her style fronting the station's fashion show She's Gotta Have It.
They are hoping she can help to bring back some of the sparkle the show lost when Johnny's original sparring partner Denise van Outen left. The pair had great on-screen chemistry.
But Channel 4 hope they have now found the right choice to bring back the fizz.
A spokesman said: "Liza has a good relationship with Johnny and they should make a great team.
"Everybody realises she is an established Channel 4 presenter who has been very popular with viewers and has done successful stints on The Big Breakfast."
Down-to-earth Liza, the daughter of Merseyside comic Jimmy Tarbuck, has won the job over former Girlie Show presenter Sara Cox, 25, who also stood in on The Big Breakfast.
Liza is the latest star tipped to follow the successes of Chris Evans and Gaby Roslin on the show which was not a springboard to success for swimmer Sharron Davies who sat in for a short time.
