Liverpool Daily Post and Echo Property Awards: Awards will showcase the best in the North West.

THE first-ever Liverpool Daily Post and Echo Property Awards, in association with The Royal Bank of Scotland, are being held next Monday, April 25.

Following months of organisation and speculation, the winners will be announced at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Liverpool.

Presenting the awards at the event will be Andrew Winter, presenter of Selling Houses and one of the biggest names in property on television.

The Property Awards 2005 set out to reward individuals, organisations and businesses for the part they are playing in the success of the property industry in the region.

Hugh McDonald is The Royal Bank of Scotland's director of property finance for corporate banking in Liverpool. He said: 'The Royal Bank of Scotland is delighted to be sponsoring these awards, as it reflects our commitment to the regional property industry.

'As a judge, I feel privileged to have seen so many excellent applications, and my only disappointment is that there isn't an award for them allAn independent panel of judges has been hand-picked and they have spent the past few months sifting through all the entries.

Sara Wilde, regional managing director of Trinity Mirror NW2, is one of the judges. She said: 'I have been incredibly impressed, though not surprised, by the standard of entrants and I know I speak for my fellow judges when I say we have had a very difficult time deciding on the shortlisted and winning companies.' Joining the panel of judges alongside his colleague Hugh MacDonald is Shaun Smyth, who heads up the commercial property finance team for The Royal Bank of Scotland in Liverpool.

He said: 'The quality of applications was high, which is testament to the vibrant property sector in Liverpool, Merseyside and the wider North West region.

I am confident that these awards will be nothing short of a fantastic showcase of local achievements.

'The Royal Bank of Scotland's commitment to the property industry spans a range of activities across residential and commercial investment and development. We have a large and wide-ranging customer base from which we have honed and developed the skills necessary to help our customers grow their businesses.

'Whether your needs are straightforward debt funding for investment or development, or more specialised forms of finance, we are capable of delivering a package that will suit your needs.

'Our experienced team is very much open for business and is looking to develop new relationships in addition to looking after our existing customers. We don't just understand funding property, we understand property itself and that makes us very well placed to help investors and developers grow.'

Other judges include Cllr Beatrice Fraenkel, Andrew Thomas, operations director for the Centre for Construction Innovation, and Dominic Wilkinson, chair of RIBA for the North West region
