Little hero misses big night; BRAVE JORDAN HELPS RAISE pounds 15M.

LITTLE Jordan Young helped Children in Need raise a record pounds 15 million after capturing the nation's hearts.

But the loveable two-year-old, who suffers a rare skin disease, fell asleep just before footage of him and his family was screened by BBC Scotland.

He was one of the real-life stars who helped take Scotland's fund-raising total to a staggering pounds 994,928.

The 24th annual Children In Need telecast raised more than pounds 15 million on the night and organisers hope the final total will top the pounds 26 million raised last year.

Presenters Jackie Bird and Fame Academy winner David Sneddon were almost in tears as they talked about Jordan.

Jordan, of Elgin in Moray, is Scotland's youngest victim of epidermolysis bullosa and his skin tears at the merest touch.

His mum Fiona, 31, said: ``Jordan was all excited about seeing himself on TV andhad his Pudsey jumper on, but he fell asleep on the sofa just before it came on.''

Gareth Gates and Marti Pellow took centre stage, while the now-retired Sneddon was persuaded to sing by the Scottish Claymores Cheerleaders.

And River City stars Stephen Purdon and Gordon McCorkell alias Shellsuit Bob and Deke got gunged in a quiz show.

Newsreaders David Robertson and Fiona Henderson beat sports presenters Dougie Vipond and Alison Walker in the charity sumo wrestling bout.
