Lite-On Mobile/Perlos, Young Fast form J.V. for touch-panel module.
Taipei, June 28, 2010 (CENS)--Two Taiwanese companies-Lite-On Mobile/Perlos Pte. Ltd. and Young Fast Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., recently announced their joint venture into the cellphone touch-panel module business.
Lite-On Mobile/Perlos, fully-owned subsidiary of LiteOn Technology Corp. and a global design and manufacturing partner for the telecommunications and electronics industries will hold 65% in the joint venture, with Young Fast owning the rest.
The joint venture is expected to enable the two companies to further cement their global leading positions in the handset supply chain by riding the wave of touch panel adoption in handsets. Lite-On Mobile/Perlos will incorporate touch modules into product and service portfolio in addition to core offerings of plastics and metal casing, antenna and module sub-assembly. Young Fast will expand its market share with entry into Lite-On Mobile's customer base (mainly Nokia).
"The synergy of joining Lite-On Mobile and Young Fast is evident," says Cor Saris, Lite-On Mobile's CEO. "We combine Young Fast's world-class touch-sensor technology with Lite-On Mobile's proven expertise in seamless design, integration with handset front cover, and decoration techniques. Together we can offer the best integrated touch solutions to our global clients."
Lite-On Mobile/Perlos' services cover the whole product life cycle from product design to manufacturing, logistics and new product versions. The company's facilities are located in Asia, Europe, North and South America, with 15,000 employees world-wide. In 2009, the firm's net sales were 427 million euro.
T.J. Lin, Young Fast's CEO, said: "An important trend in the touch panel industry is the integration of touch sensor into the window lens and ultimately into the handset's front cover. The joint venture will ensure Young Fast and Lite-On Mobile to stay at the forefront of such trend."
The joint venture is expected to begin operation in the fourth quarter of 2010, and will set up a factory in Huizhou, Guangdong province of China.
