Lisa Shaw's Diary: Week 10.

When I was thinking about what I wanted to share with you this week one thing immediately sprung to mind... just how excited I am!

Although I'm sure this is just the calm before the storm, I'm really looking forward to my wedding, now just eight weeks away.

One major development this week is my mum and her "mother-of-the-bride" outfit.

She took half a day off work and, along with my younger sister, we all went out for what we thought could potentially be a fairly stressful and unproductive day

I'm pleased to report it was anything but.

In fact, it was good fun to see mum trying on lots of different things and for once deciding on an outfit because she really liked it, and not because the price was right.

She'd been given free rein with the credit card, you see, and like any self-respecting woman, made the most of it.

We even had a chat with a fashion adviser; a job I never even knew existed until he mentioned in passing that a frock mum was looking at would clash terribly with her skin tone!

It would seem my younger sister now knows what she wants to do with her life.

Mum looks stunning in her eventual choice and I'm sure I'll be as proud of her on the day as she will be of me.

The men are slowly but surely getting measured and trying suits on after what seems like months of nagging.

I am trying my best to stay out of this aspect of the organisation trusting my other half, Ian, to handle it in a responsible and thorough way. Hmm.

But when I got a text on Saturday from one of the ushers saying he wasn't so keen on the gold silky suit we'd chosen I'll admit I did panic for the briefest of seconds.

You see he thought that was funny. Now he's learned a vital lesson for life - never joke with a bride-to-be, they no longer have a sense of humour.

So what's next? I don't really know. I'm in unchartered territory and am tackling each decision as and when it comes. What I do know is that the sooner I walk down the aisle the better. I bet you never thought I'd say that, I know I didn't.
