KEEPERS have extended the hardstand in Lion Ridge to stop our three
Asiatic lions getting muddy before bedtime.
A six-strong team spent a day making a six-ton cement pathway next to the internal den using 92 bags of cement.
Team leader ungulates Jay Hayward said: "The lions become excited at teatime and pace along the grass by the entrance, which gets wet and muddy when it rains.
"They also jump up at the bars and cover us with mud, so we decided to extend the hardstand before winter set in."
