LinuxWorld Conference & Expo Launches in Russia; The Open Source movement in Russia now has a new event - LinuxWorld Russia.

MOSCOW -- LinuxWorld Conference & Expo(R) Russia is the latest addition to the highly successful LinuxWorld series - the premier event exclusively focused on Linux and open source solutions in 12 countries around the world.

The show will follow the successful format of other LinuxWorld events, and will take place from 7-9 September 2005 at Moscow's premier exhibition center - Gostiny Dvor, a stones throw from the Kremlin and in the very heart of Moscow's business and government district.

LinuxWorld Russia is being launched by Reed Exhibitions, the world's leading organiser of trade and public shows (www.reedexpo.ru). IDG World Expo, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows, conferences and events for technology markets is the owner and initiator of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo and has licensed the LinuxWorld brand to Reed Exhibitions for LinuxWorld Russia. The Russian partner of Reed Exhibitions for LinuxWorld Russia 2005 is RESTEC Exhibition Company (www.restec.ru), one of the top 5 listed exhibition companies in Russia. The launch edition will run alongside existing Reed events Infosecurity Russia and Storage Expo Russia.

"Linux is already well entrenched amongst end users and business in Russia, which also enjoys a reputation as one of the worlds leading centres for software development. The event will create a unique opportunity for end users and developers to see the latest domestic and international products and speakers in this fast paced and exciting market" says Tim Porter, Reed Exhibitions Director of Technology Show Development Worldwide. "Both Infosecurity and Storage Expo have already been extremely well received in Russia, and I am sure we can deliver the same sort of success with LinuxWorld."

"We are very excited to partner with Reed Exhibitions in bringing LinuxWorld to Russia," said David Korse, president and CEO of IDG World Expo. "LinuxWorld is the world's most comprehensive marketplace for open source products and services, and it provides business decision-makers with information and resources to implement Linux and open source solutions into business infrastructure and enterprise networks. With 15 shows worldwide, Linuxworld has proven to meet a clear information need. Linux is the fastest growing operating system in the world, and predictions for the coming years indicate that open source is and will remain one of the major issues in IT. Furthermore, there are some clear links to be made between Linux and the co-located IT security and storage events. All ingredients are there for a successful launch."

Both shows can be visited with one and the same entry badge, but will be positioned and marketed separately.
