To allay fears that there must be something wrong with "free" software, the author of the Linux Troubleshooting Bible and Red Hat Linux Bible traces the development of this alternative (to Windows) operating system and the open source movement. Rather than focusing on any particular Linux distribution, Negus introduces the basics of Linux graphical interfaces, shell commands, system administration, and programming. He lists Web sites links to the Linux community. The accompanying CD and DVD contain ten different Linux distributions.
