Lindsey takes over as NCADD president.
Dr. Lindsey also served as executive director of the New York State Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Addictions, which is the NCADD affiliate organization for New York State. As executive director, he coordinated the development of 12 new local councils in the state and established the New York State Clearinghouse on Alcohol Information. The NCADD network includes 90 affiliate operations across the country.
"The organization is now poised to forge ahead with a number of exciting initiatives in education and prevention, and Bob's knowledge and expertise will be a tremendous asset as we move forward," Adele Smithers-Fornaci, immediate past chair of the NCADD board of directors, said of Dr. Lindsey.
On Feb. 4, Dr. Lindsey officially took over at NCADD for Murphy, who had been president of the national organization since 1999. Murphy has served as a unifying force among the various professional associations in the addiction treatment and prevention fields, particularly in her efforts to fuel interest in and support for a national advocacy campaign that has been nurtured through the annual Providence Summit on Addiction.
