Lincolnshire bike path closed:

A section of the Riverwoods Road bike path between Surrey and Brampton lanes in Lincolnshire will be closed for about a month to accommodate roadwork. The closure is needed because Riverwoods Road is being widened for turn lanes at Whitmore Lane and Briarwood Lane. Pedestrians and bicycle riders should use other paths during the construction. Open house on Patriot Path:

The third and final public hearing for the study of the Patriot Path along Route 137 to connect Libertyville, Green Oaks, Waukegan and North Chicago, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Independence Grove Forest Preserve, 16400 W. Buckley Road, Libertyville. The purpose of the open house session is to present the preferred alignment, identify potential needed right of way and provide a project schedule. Coffee with Cops coming:

Police officers from Hawthorn Woods, Lake Zurich and Kildeer will be on hand from 8 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, to discuss community issues at Mariano's Fresh Market, 1350 East Route 22, Lake Zurich. Coffee With a Cop is meant to build relationships, answer questions and allow residents to learn more about the agencies over coffee in a relaxed setting.

Senior Law Day coming:

The 19th Judicial Circuit Court presents Senior Law Day from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the new court tower, 301 Washington St., Waukegan. Guardianship, service dogs, probate, estates, electronic filing, senior scams, elder abuse and con schemes will be discussed by Lake County judges, Lake County State's Attorney Mike Nerheim and Sheriff Mark Curran. Candidates debate at forum:

Candidates in local races will debate during a forum Sunday, Oct. 14, at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library. Tom Morrison and Democrat Maggie Trevor; 53rd House District Republican Eddie Corrigan and Democrat Mark Walker; 27th Senate District Republican incumbent Sen.
