Likens hurls, hits North to victory.

Ashley Likens allowed just one hit and struck out 11 in a complete-game shutout as North Eugene handed visiting Lebanon a 2-0 loss in Midwestern League softball action Monday afternoon.

Likens also went 1-for-3 with an RBI triple, and Jacque Barton and Vanessa Virde had two hits apiece for North.

Katie Springer threw six innings for the Warriors, allowing only five hits and two earned runs.

Churchill 8, Springfield 0

Kelly Dyer struck out 14 and allowed just one hit in the Lancers' victory over the Millers.

Rachel Steigleman, Megan Peterson, Katie Steigleman, Megan McPheeters and Carie Boothe all had two hits for the top-ranked Lancers, and Peterson and McPheeters each drove in a pair of runs.

Rachel Lopez had Springfield's only hit.

Sheldon 5, Willamette 0

Irish pitchers Sienna Stanley and Lizzie Armstead held the Wolverines to one hit in their combined shutout performance.

Kaycee Gamez collected two of Sheldon's five hits, and Lauren Ling knocked in three runs.

Sky-Em League

La Pine 10, Creswell 9

LA PINE - Brittany Manning allowed two hits and struck out 10 while also going 3-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Hawks to a win in a game played in the snow and sleet.

Jesse Griebel added an RBI triple for La Pine. Lindsey Roderick and Amanda Marsh each had two hits for the Bulldogs.

Trico League

Monroe 7, Harrisburg 6

MONROE - Sarah Wheatley hit an RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Shiann Ashenbrenner with the game-winning run. Wheatley and Ashenbrenner each finished with three hits. Melissa Powell went 3-for-4 with two doubles for Harrisburg.

Val-Co League

Newport 7, Toledo 1

TOLEDO - The Cubs' Melissa Chipman struck out nine in her complete-game one-hitter, and she also drove in three runs on two hits.

Mortanna Nicosen and Brooke Chestnut each had two hits for Newport.
