Life after Jaguar took off for Colin.
EX-JAGUAR trim manager Colin Cleaver is looking for skilled staff to double his workforce as he expands his booming business.
Mr Cleaver is managing director of Q Trim, based in Redditch, and is reaping the rewards from the success of Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic's Upper Class Suite.
Q Trim intends to double its labour force to about 90 people to meet demand for luxury leather and upholstered aircraft seating.
Coventry-born Mr Cleaver set up Q Trim only four years ago and it is now a multi-million pound turnover business with a string of awards for producing the best airline seating in the world.
The company supported the design and development programme for Virgin Atlantic's world-beating interior back in 2002 and, as a result, was awarded the manufacturing contract to convert Virgin's whole fleet.
Mr Cleaver said: "We are proud and determined to deliver the best service to our clients and this is starting to reward us with more high quality work and a turnover that is now allowing us to carefully expand into new markets."
Mr Cleaver spent 39 years working for Jaguar at Browns Lane as trim manager at a time when all the trim was done on site.
He left in 1995 in the first savage cuts Ford imposed on Jaguar's Browns Lane staff, and became a consultant to some of the companies that started to supply Jaguar with seats and interior trim parts until he formed Q Trim in 2000.
