License deal struck for x-ray technology; IN BRIEF.
LOUGHBOROUGH company Axi-Tek Ltd has agreed a license deal with Ploughshare Innovations for a novel x-ray technology developed by the Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl).
Axi-Tek will use the technology to develop the next generation of safe and rapid backscatter x-ray inspection equipment, which provides extremely detailed x-ray images, like the body scanners used at airports.
Nick Fox, managing director of Axi-Tek, said: "We are excited to have secured this novel technology as it now paves the way for a new line of portable backscatter x-ray imaging products.
"We expect to see the first CSI-100 x-ray system available to the aviation industry in quarter four next year, with specialist security variants coming online early the following year."
