Letter from NEHA/AAS scholarship recipient.
I wanted to write a letter of thanks to you, as executive director of the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA), for awarding me a $2,000 academic graduate scholarship for the 2004-2005 school year. I am humbled and honored by this recognition. It provides me with great encouragement to know that my budding environmental/public health skills have been duly recognized. My current program of graduate studies at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, under the able instruction of James English, is wonderful. He is a very caring, knowledgeable, and passionate mentor/teacher. The combination of acquired knowledge and networking opportunities is invaluable for any aspiring public health professional. I should also let you know that your award follows another academic scholarship from the Virginia Environmental Health Association (VEHA), awarded in April 2004 by VEHA President Guerry Beatson.
This NEHA/AAS award makes me realize the responsibility and legacy that lay ahead of me at my young age of 32. It is a significant milestone at the dawn of my environmental/public health career. My NEHA membership will remain in good standing. Thanks again for your thoughtful consideration and selection.
